1. What makes you laugh?
My wife – she’s really funny.

2. What makes you cry?
Baseball movies. Truth be told, I have trouble crying over the bad things that happen, but bawl out loud at the silliest things.
3. What keeps you from giving up or giving in?
The belief that there may be people with less clean time than I have watching me, looking for proof that this program doesn’t work.
4. What’s your biggest fear?
That I’ll pick up.
5. What’s your biggest regret?
The time I lost with my older kids when I was using.
6. What’s the most useful thing you’ve learned?
To ask for help.
7. What’s your idea of serenity?
Standing in the middle of a river between two mountains with a fly rod in my hand. I’m still working on replicating that sensation in the “real” world.
8. What events, arts, or skills make you believe that the human race can be touched with greatness?
Michelangelo’s David, Bob Dylan’s “My Back Pages,” Tony Kushner’s “Angels In America.”
9. What qualities do you appreciate most in a friend?
Tolerance and patience.
10. What would you not want to live without?
Hope.
11. What historical or fictional character would you be willing to have as a roommate?
Mark Twain.
12. What single special power (magical or physical) would you want most?
The ability to be quiet.
