Well-Being Caribbean Style

For the person new to recovery or someone simply looking to enhance their daily life experience with some R+R amongst the palm trees and cooling breezes, the options in the Caribbean are almost endless. The islands of the Caribbean are replete with experiences for all spiritual levels and material budgets. The following are some random samples of the types of resources available.

12-step Groups: Alcoholics Anonymous and its many offshoots (OA, NA, SA, Al-Anon, etc.) are well represented in the Caribbean. Try anonpress.org/phone/#Carribean for an overview of the islands represented, which is by no means an exhaustive list. For a complete international list of AA groups, try: www.aa.org/pdf/products/f-59_gso-ctroffoverseas.pdf
English-speaking meetings for Puerto Rico are here: www.aa-pr.org/englishMeetings.asp
Meeting schedules for the island of St. John along with general information on spas and wellness practitioners is available here: www.stjohnusvi.com/medical.html

Sober hotel:
For a relaxed sober vacation experience, the Guest House in Cabarete, Dominican Republic offers a residential “sober” hotel. Information is at www.recovery-vacation.com/index.html
