Welcome Arizona
A Letter from the Publisher of Together Arizona

From the High Life to Real Life
He lived the high life and drank for over thirty years, but after spending time in treatment and a men’s halfway house in Phoenix, Arizona, Bill Brown finally found the life he had always searched for. Like many alcoholics, he was given the chance to clean the slate and start over.

In 1991, at a year and a half sober, with a few bucks in his pocket and a big idea, he created the first issue of Recovering Together – for a few significant reasons:
1) to be a resource to the community at large, providing comprehensive and cutting edge information on recovery, treatment and prevention for addiction recovery and behavioral health; 2) to help erase the stigma that most addictions carry through awareness and advocacy; and 3) to let others know to never give up on hope for a better way of life.

Twenty years have passed and the original newspaper still thrives, now under the name Together AZ. One of Bill’s biggest dreams was to have an edition in his hometown of New York, and that too has come to fruition. Perhaps it was synchronicity on meeting the New York team at the right place and time or maybe it was in the Divine Plan – perhaps it was just meant to be.

Congratulations to Together New York for celebrating your first year of publication, with many more issues to come.
